Loreto

Loreto: A paradise recently found by worldwide investors.

Loreto began to be known in the 80s. It is a tourist corridor that encompasses the traditional town of Loreto, the Nopoló tourist zone and the Puerto Escondido marina. It is located in the center of the Baja California peninsula and it is washed by the Mar de Cortés (Cortés Sea).

Mexican, American, Canadian and European tourist waves are its natural market. Two main vacation seasons stand out: from November to February when it is host to kayak, ecotourism and whale watching enthusiasts; and from March to September that is the ideal time for sport-fishing and diving.

Its unparalleled natural beauty combines sea, desert and mountains that create a natural wall made of the Sierra de la Giganta. It is part of Mexico’s largest sea environmental reserve: Loreto Bay National Park; its waters are rich in dolphins, marlins and yellowtails. Its weather is warm and dry with a 24° C (75°F) annual average temperature.

The IPR’s Master Plan conceives a 10,205 hectares polygon divided in three areas. The first area, encompassing 743 hectares, is Loreto. Loreto, which was founded by Jesuit priests, is an urban center with a rich historical and cultural legacy. The second is Nopoló, which has 4.6 km of beaches and a natural oasis called Primer Agua. It encompasses 3,467 hectares of which 60% will be destined to environmental preservation. The third is Puerto Escondido, whose well kept natural sea environment makes it ideal to operate as part of the Transient Marinas network that belongs to the Mar de Cortés project. It has 6,172 hectares of which approximately 60% will be used for environmental preservation.

Loreto is currently considered as the most important spot for economic and tourist development in the region. Thus, it has been provided with significant infrastructure networks and facilities that include the international airport, a phone station, an electrical substation, a sewage treatment plant and a highway network allowing the development to be efficiently connected. It also has a tennis club with nine courts, a stadium with a 280-people capacity and a breathtaking 18 hole, 72par golf course.
